Real Bride Anneka’s story

featured one of my lovely clients, Anneka.

Anneka had her dream wedding all planned out. Starting with a registry office ceremony on a chilly February day in London, before jetting off four days later to a sun-drenched beach wedding in beautiful Zanzibar.

Anneka and I first met with over a year before her wedding day. She already had an idea of the silhouette she wanted and came armed with a Pinterest board full of inspiration. During our initial meeting we spent the time talking through the general look and feel of the wedding day before discussing in depth the kind of wedding dresses she was drawn to.

Anneka explained how she realised pretty quickly that she wanted a bespoke wedding dress. She described how she’d looked at some lovely dresses, but they just weren’t for her and she felt they just wouldn’t work for a beach wedding in Zanzibar.

Because Annkea came to see me well before her wedding, we had time to visit some designer bridal stores together so that she could try a few different styles and get a better idea of the sort of fabric she liked. This then allowed me to sketch a few dress designs, having achieved a clear understanding of what Anneka was after.

Then came the time for the calico toile fittings. Like many brides, Anneka really enjoyed this process! She told me how she loved gradually watching her dream dress transform from an idea, into a sketch and then into reality.

From my point of view, this process also allowed all of those final little tweaks to be made before the final dress was made in silk. Anneka admitted that it was actually this process that convinced her commission a second dress with me for her registry office ceremony in London.

You can read all about Anneka’s experience here on Bridal Editor. She says some really lovely things about her experience with me, and of course the finished dress, which was so humbling. It’s just so wonderful to know you’ve helped turn someone’s dream into a reality.

If, like Anneka, you’ve been searching and searching for a wedding dress and nothing’s quite worked, perhaps it’s time to explore a bespoke bridal gown? Not only will you get a perfectly fitting dress that is

is totally designed according to your dreams and desires; for many brides, you also get (I like to think) a once in a life-time experience. Let’s be honest, not many of us can enjoy the luxury process of tailored clothes. If you’re going to do it once, perhaps your wedding is the time to do it.

Choosing your wedding dress in always an unforgettable occasion, but for those who go down the bespoke route, that occasion becomes an unforgettable experience. Which can often last over 10 fittings throughout the course of a year. If this sounds like something you’d like to explore, let’s have a chat!
